Leadership Opportunity: Assistant Equipment Manager

 
London Hunt and Country Club is accepting applications to join our Senior Grounds Management Team as Assistant Equipment Manager.

The London Hunt and Country Club with over 125 years of tradition is one of Canada’s oldest and history rich sporting institutions; including golf, tennis, trap and skeet shooting sports. Our Club prides itself in creating an exceptional Membership experience while providing a memorable work environment. This year-round position will present the opportunity to:
  • Work with the Head Equipment Manager and Senior Management Team to achieve course excellence through commitment
  • Under the guidance of the Head Equipment Manager, diagnose and repair mechanical issues within the turf equipment fleet including; diesel, electric, gasoline-powered vehicles, tractors, rollers and mowers
  • Develop the art of sharpening and adjusting sophisticated mowing equipment under the guidance and tutelage of the Head Equipment Manager
  • Carry out preventative maintenance tasks to a high standard, including detailed record keeping, in a timely manner
  • Help train staff in the safe and efficient use of golf course maintenance equipment within Club SOP guidelines
  • Exposure to industry wide networking within the turfgrass industry while representing the Club as a professional leader
Qualifications required:
  • 3-5-years of equipment technician experience within the golf, automotive, agricultural or heavy equipment field
  • Preference given to the holder of a Certificate of Qualification in a related trade
  • Must possess a clean driver’s abstract
  • Proven leadership and effective communication skills – observation, listening, problem solving, forward thinking
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • Character, commitment to learning, integrity, talent and a humble desire to climb the mountain
The London Hunt and Country Club is embarking on a much-anticipated Master Plan. Renowned golf course architects Dr. Mike and Chris Hurdzan, Hurdzan Golf in collaboration with course officials have developed a roadmap that will pave the way for strategic course enhancements strengthening the Clubs reputation and enjoyment by Members.

Qualifications required:
  • Graduate of a recognized post-secondary turfgrass management program
  • 5+ years experience in the golf course industry with emphasis on proven results and future growth
  • Possess a valid Ontario pesticide license with IPM Agent qualifications an asset
  • Proven leadership and effective communication skills – observation, listening, problem solving, forward thinking
  • Experience with irrigation system control and repair procedures, including troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Character, commitment to learning, integrity, talent and a desire to climb the mountain

  • Working towards the possession of a valid Ontario pesticide license with additional IPM Agent qualifications
  • Proven leadership and effective communication skills – observation, listening, problem solving, forward thinking
